Your feedback on CBD Parking Trials

As part of the CBD parking trials, the feedback provided through the survey was used to shape the recommended outcome on 15 minute free parking and removal of time and and paid parking on a Saturday in the Ipswich City Central.

Key findings of the Survey

Feedback from the Survey

Parking Trial 1

15 minute free parking feedback

Allow users of parking in the CBD to choose a 15 minute free parking option. This will allow users to print and display a 15 minute parking ticket at no cost. Stays longer than 15 minutes will still require users to pay for parking.

donna_smith says:

I avoid parking in the Ipswich CBD as the parking meters don't take cash or EFTpos cards and I don't have a credit card.

damien_johnson says:

Great idea, but moving forward a paperless version, such as an online sign-in or parking app needs to be created.

11 February, 2021

Motheroftwo says:

Great idea - this would mean I can more easily support small business like cafes.

8 February, 2021

adam_elliott says:

30 mins should be free for locals but I think there needs to be a discount on staff of the shops as they are already desperate for money

9 December, 2020

UboboHobo says:

Both are good initiatives; especially the 15 minute free parking, as sometimes that is all that is required to drop into a business.

ArtsAlive says:

I don't often park in the CBD but I am happy with the changes, especially the free Saturday parking.

Johnf says:

If the intent is for people to deliver or pick up something, then not a bad idea. Not enough time to get a coffee but parking is not dear.

PJoMo says:

I don't think 15 minutes is sufficient & 1 hour is more realistic. Not all business have street fronts & walking needed. which takes time

Mojo says:

Use technology that does not print tickets 3which reduces waste. Elderly and disabled need more than 15 minutes to get to bill pay or shop.

jake_james says:

I'm concerned this isn't long enough to travel/walk from my car to the shops in the CBD (library) and conduct my business and return in time

19 November, 2020

ssheron says:

Fantastic idea. Great for our customers to pick up gift vouchers and drop off loved ones for appointments.

18 November, 2020

TerryR78 says:

I believe 15-20 minute free parking in the CBD is sufficient time to quickly pick-up/drop-off, allowing more turnover of parking spaces.

Parking trial 2

Saturday restrictions feedback

Time and pay restrictions are in place on Saturdays between 8am – 11:30am. This trial will remove the need for payment and time restrictions to on-street parking within the CBD.

This is an excellent initiative, and makes it more inviting to visit places like the Art Gallery, Library and local cafes and eateries

Motheroftwo says:

This would encourage people to support local.

8 February, 2021

adam_elliott says:

Yes this is a great idea but what are people coming to the city to see? We need dining in and entertainment precincts and night clubs

16 January, 2021

Jared says:

The city centre is quiet, there is not need to charge if you want the business to live up again.

9 December, 2020

Johnf says:

Good idea, should help traders provided streets not clogged with weekend workers catching the train.

1 December, 2020

You are competing with the huge Riverlink. Must be free everywhere. Trial that. Free Parking

We need as much parking as possible

28 November, 2020

jake_james says:

That's acceptable.

15 November, 2020

krystal_kathage says:

Don't mind paying...need actual parks AVAILABLE. All it takes is 1 SMALL civic event (150 pp) on top of normal traffic 2 jam all CBD park

9 November, 2020

M99 says:

this needs to happen to support visitation to local businesses

27 October, 2020

Highly support. Will assist in the reactivation of the city centre.
