Ipswich City Council is building a new state-of-the-art Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) that will improve waste management in our growing city.

With the Southern area of the city one of the fastest population growth areas and the existing Refuse and Recycling Centre at Riverview currently operating at over capacity, a facility is needed in the region to provide the waste management services that our community need.

The new facility will be located at 831 Redbank Plains Road, Redbank Plains.

A new animal management facility will also be located on the site to move the facility from its current flood prone location in West Ipswich.

Council has commenced drafting the design of the new RRC and would like to hear from community about what's important to you. This is the early stages of design and the final design could differ following input from community and further site analysis.

Take a look at the site layout, fly through video and benefits of the site and then share your ideas in the short survey.

Take the survey

What can you influence by taking the survey:

  • User experience while visiting the site to improve customer service and accessibility
What has been decided:
  • The centre will maximise resource recovery and minimise waste to landfill
  • It has been approved that the resource recovery centre and animal management facility will be built on the Redbank Plains location site
