To make Ipswich a great place to live, the council and the community need to work together. When you share your ideas, you help us understand what matters most so we can make better decisions for everyone.
Council is updating its Community Engagement Policy, this is our plan for how we listen to and involve the community. We’d like your feedback on how we’re doing and how we can improve.
Your input will help us understand what’s working well and what we could do better. We’re looking at:
Ready to share your thoughts?
Have your say by 26 July 2026.
Each new engagement project goes through five key stages.
Click a segment on the wheel to learn about that stage.
Community engagement is all about the council involving residents in decisions that affect their everyday lives. It means the council asks for your ideas before making a final choice, listens to what you have to say, and lets you know how your feedback changed the plan.
You know your neighborhood better than anyone else! When you share your real-life experiences and ideas, the council can make smarter decisions that actually match what the people of Ipswich need and care about.
Think of this policy as the council’s official rulebook for listening to the public. It explains exactly what topics the council needs to ask you about, who should be included, how they will reach out to people, and how they will measure if they did a good job listening.
The council reads and groups all the feedback to see what the main ideas are, then shares those findings with the city's leaders. By law, the council has to think about the community's input before making a final decision. Once a project is finished, the results are posted publicly so you can see what everyone said and what the next steps are.
We want you to have your say on this project. Please submit your feedback using one of the engagement channels below:
