Explore the Brassall guide, created with the assistance of locals for locals, and consider how prepared you are for future flooding.
Phase one
The community was asked to share their flood experiences in Brassall and provide feedback on how they prefer to receive information during future flood events as well as share details on individual preparedness measures.

Below is a snapshot of some statistics reflecting the total number of contributors to the Phase 1 engagement, based on 351 survey contributors.
What you shared
The following results are based on feedback from 54 contributors for Brassall.

- 70% live in Brassall
- 11% work in Brassall
- 13% either attend or a member of their family attend a school in Brassall
- 5% own or operate a business in Brassall
- 5% are members of community groups in Brassall
- 20% mentioned other connections to the area

- 43% have been impacted by flooding in Brassall
Of that 43%,
- 47% have experienced water inside their home
- 7% had water enter onto their property
- 23% moved their possessions to higher ground
- 33% purchased supplies and planned to shelter in place
- 37% either evacuated or assisted other to evacuate -

- The Bureau of Meteorology was the most commonly used source of information for 67% of Brassall respondents
- Council managed platforms closely followed:

- Nine community members participated in both Phase 1 and Phase 2
- Five contributors believed their Phase 1 feedback was reflected in the Guide, while four contributors did not participate in Phase 1
- 11 contributors indicated that they intend to use the Guide to support their emergency preparedness activities, while the remaining contributor were unsure

Quantitative data was downloaded from the various digital platforms and/or transcribed into a master Excel database by project staff. The data was cleaned, de-identified, aggregated and charted in the master database. Open thematic analysis of qualitative comments was carried out using Excel. For the purposes of this report, percentages are rounded to the nearest whole number, which may result in a total not equal to 100%.
