Explore the Goodna guide, created with the assistance of locals for locals, and consider how prepared you are for future flooding.
Phase one
The community was asked to share their flood experiences in Goodna and provide feedback on how they prefer to receive information during future flood events as well as share details on individual preparedness measures.

Below is a snapshot of some statistics reflecting the total number of contributors to the Phase 1 engagement, based on 351 survey contributors.
What you shared
The following results are based on feedback from 53 contributors for Goodna.

- 13% work in Goona
- 23% either attend or a member of their family attend a school in Goodna
- 4% own or operate a business in Goodna
- 23% are members of community groups in Goodna
- 19% mentioned other connections to the area

- 72% have been impacted by flooding in Goodna
Of that 72% ,
- 18% have experienced water inside their home
- 27% had water enter onto their property
- 15% moved their possessions to higher ground
- 61% purchased supplies and planned to shelter in place
- 73% either evacuated or assisted other to evacuate -
Information sources
- The Bureau of Meteorology was the most commonly used source of information for with 19% of Goodna respondents
- The strongest second preference was for the Ipswich Disaster Dashboard with 11%
- For third preferences, 26% of respondents selected ‘other’ sources

- 87% agreed that they understood the information shared
- 31% felt that the information was too technical/difficult to understand

- Two community members participated in both Phase 1 and Phase 2, helping to review how feedback was reflected in the draft Guide
- One contributor believed their Phase 1 feedback was reflected in the Guide, while another contributor did not participate in Phase 1
- All four contributors indicated that they intend to use the Guide to support their emergency preparedness activities

The data was cleaned, de-identified, aggregated and charted in the master database. Open thematic analysis of qualitative comments was carried out using Excel.
