Phase 1
The community was asked to share their flood experiences in Karalee, Barellan Point and Chuwar and provide feedback on how they prefer to receive information during future flood events as well as share details on individual preparedness measures.

- 16% have experienced water inside their home
- 36% had water enter onto their property
- 5% moved their possessions to higher ground
- 82% purchased supplies and planned to shelter in place

Information sources
- The Bureau of Meteorology was the most commonly used source of information for 30% of Karalee contributors
- The Ipswich City Council Disaster Dashboard was the next most common second preference, chosen by 17% of respondents
- Traditional channels such as radio and television as well as newer channels such as social media each received 14%, making them the strongest third preference

- Four contributors believed their Phase 1 feedback was reflected in the Guide, while eight contributors did not participate in Phase 1
- Six contributors indicated that they intend to use the Guide to support their emergency preparedness activities, while three contributors were unsure
