Explore the North Booval guide, created with the assistance of locals for locals, and consider how prepared you are for future flooding.
Phase 1
The community was asked to share their flood experiences in North Booval and provide feedback on how they prefer to receive information during future flood events as well as share details on individual preparedness measures.

The following results are based on feedback from 26 contributors for North Booval.

- 50% have been impacted by flooding in North Booval
Of that 50%,
- 30% have experienced water inside their home
- 40% had water enter onto their property
- 20% moved their possessions to higher ground
- 67% purchased supplies and planned to shelter in place
- 50% either evacuated or assisted other to evacuate -
Information sources
- The Bureau of Meteorology was the most commonly used source of information with 23% of Bundamba respondents
- Followed by the use of flood mapping, river height and gauge data by 19%
- Traditional channels such as radio and television were the strongest third preference with 19%

- 55% agreed that they understood the information that was shared

Disclaimer: Quantitative and qualitative data was collected from participants during the engagement, in accordance with council’s Information Privacy Policy. Quantitative data was downloaded from the various digital platforms and/or transcribed into a master Excel database by project staff. The data was cleaned, de-identified, aggregated and charted in the master database. Open thematic analysis of qualitative comments was carried out using Excel. For the purposes of this report, percentages are rounded to the nearest whole number, which may result in a total not equal to 100%.
